This week, Stratford Group’s People & Culture team is attending the 2025 Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) Annual Conference, taking place June 19–20 at the Westin Ottawa. This year’s event marks a major milestone: 60 years of actuarial excellence in Canada.
The CIA’s flagship event brings together actuaries from across the country to explore emerging issues, reconnect with peers, and celebrate the profession’s ongoing evolution. Attendees gain insights from leading voices in the field, earn CPD hours through in-person learning, and enjoy opportunities to network, celebrate volunteer contributions, and look toward the future of the profession.
We’re proud to share that Stratford’s Dean Fulford, Vice President and Practice Leader, Leadership Development, will be speaking at the event this afternoon alongside Neil Crawford, Practice Leader at Stratford, as moderator.

Through real-world examples, the session will highlight how professionals have embedded learning into their routines—whether by using e-learning platforms to enhance technical skills, participating in professional development seminars, or engaging in cross-functional collaboration to gain new perspectives.
By the end of the session, participants will walk away with a personalized toolkit of strategies designed to support individual growth, enhance professional adaptability, and contribute to the evolution of the actuarial profession.

Dean Fulford brings more than 20 years of experience and a deep expertise in leadership development, organizational development and design, project management, process mapping, and best-practice benchmarking activities. Dean has significant experience in developing HR programs and in process and change management along with competency-based engagements. With an extensive background in organization development and effectiveness, performance consulting and process improvement, he has effectively determined client business requirements to successfully implement projects that provide global consistency. Dean compliments his HR background with strong process management and competency-based project experience. With an Engineering degree he brings a high technical aptitude to his engagements that make him a credible voice with deeply technical clients. He is responsible for creating organization and leadership development strategies and solutions, with a focus on linking capabilities to strategy. Building on experiences across all domains in People & Culture, Dean is also driving innovation and growth across all practice areas of our team. He is Stratford’s leading expert on team effectiveness, leadership development and employee engagement programs. Dean has held HR Executive roles in high technology and financial services firms, responsible for design, implementation, and oversight of organizational development, effectiveness, and human resource programs at both the local and global levels. Dean has in-depth experience in HR program and policy development and has an extensive background in HR related research and survey projects. |
