Vacancy Type: Existing Position | Salary Range: $61, 000 – $68,000 per year prorated | Part-time 15-21 hours/week – 12-month Contract

This role will report into the Intellectual Property business unit and will be based primarily from home with occasional requirements to be in Ottawa.

What You Will Do and The Value You Will Add

With your patent administration experience, you will help the Stratford Intellectual Property team support clients in implementing and managing their IP strategies and assets.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and filing Canadian, United States (US), and Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) patent applications and Requests for National Entry.
  • Preparing and filing documents, including but not limited to Information Disclosure Statements, Assignments, Declarations, and Power of Attorney forms.
  • Processing and docketing Patent Office correspondence and monitoring deadlines.
  • Reviewing and reporting official correspondence.
  • Liaising with clients, inventors and outside counsel during drafting and prosecution.
  • Reviewing and filing patent office action responses at the CIPO and the USPTO.
  • Preparing documents for Request for the Global Patent Prosecution Highway (GPPH).
  • Managing payment of maintenance fees at the CIPO and the USPTO, and coordinating with an annuity service for foreign jurisdictions.
  • Maintaining a proactive approach to quality assurance by identifying and correcting errors or discrepancies.
  • Coordinating among cross-functional teams.
 

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of U.S., Canadian, and International patent administration
  • Experience with IP Management Software (FoundationIP)
  • Paper-free office
