The path to sustainable growth starts with HR

    How Stratford Group’s virtual HR team supported STACS DNA’s long-term business goals

     

    In early 2020, Jocelyn Tremblay, former president and COO of STACS DNA, had a decision to make. “I knew we were lacking HR expertise. We needed to do things differently to facilitate growth and make sure the company was well-positioned to execute on our long-term business plan, and to do that we needed to set the right structure to allow us to grow.”

    Tremblay’s decision to engage with Stratford Group’s Virtual and Interim HR team was recently profiled in the Ottawa Business Journal. Operating as the company’s de-facto HR department, Tremblay knew that with 35 employees and a plan for additional growth, this arrangement wouldn’t be sustainable.

    Enter Stratford. Led by Practice Lead Pierre Côté, the team got right to work, conducting a full HR audit and gap analysis to help them understand everything about the company’s culture, business plan, people practices and employee engagement. Working closely with Tremblay and her team for roughly 18 months, Côté describes the relationship as “more of a business partnership,” with Côté being made a permanent member of the exec team, to help provide perspective on the HR considerations when managing the business.

    Of engagements like the one with STACS DNA, Côté says, “It’s a matter of maximizing value for the resources that you’re getting.
