I'm Leah.
Meet Leah Rodin. As Practice Leader, Patents at Stratford Intellectual Property, Leah brings deep expertise in building robust IP portfolios for innovative organizations across the life sciences, chemical, and technology sectors. With a unique background in both scientific research and patent law, she helps clients—from multinational corporations to early-stage start-ups—protect their inventions and align their IP strategies with business goals.
Leah Begleiter-Rodin is the Patent Practice Leader of the Intellectual Property team at Stratford. Her team of patent agents builds strong intellectual property portfolios for innovative companies. Leah’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patents and industrial designs. She advises clients on patent filing strategy and portfolio management and prepares opinions on patentability, validity, infringement and freedom to operate.
Specializing in chemical and life science patents, Leah has worked on a wide range of technologies including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, agriculture and food science, medical devices, oil and gas, batteries and fuel cells, materials and consumer products. She has developed tailored solutions for clients ranging from large multinationals to small start-ups, to universities and individual inventors to protect their inventions and achieve their unique business objectives.
Having started her career working as a researcher in a prominent Canadian biotechnology company, Leah has a deep understanding of both the science and the role that intellectual property plays in a business. Leah uses that understanding to help her client’s develop comprehensive yet efficient intellectual property portfolios that work for their business.
An in demand thought leader, Leah has contributed to the development of the new Patent Agent Knowledge exams. She has been a regular speaker on IP at Canadian universities, including Dalhousie, McMaster and the University of Waterloo school of graduate studies. She has also spoken at local and international industry events on best practices in developing IP for life science companies and on developments in Canadian patent and industrial design practice.
Leah has been recognized by IAM Patent 1000 as a leading patent prosecution practitioner since the year 2021.
